Catchment Water Treatment Systems
The diagram below shows parts of a Mountain Slope Water catchment purification system work together to provide clean, pure water from even the most questionable sources.

1. The booster pump is needed to provide pressurized water to the bladder tank. The pump will have a high/low switch that turns the pump on and off as needed. The high/low range is normally set to 40 low and 60 high PSI. There should be a back up pump in situations where gravity feed is not an option.

2. The bladder tank will be pressurized by the delivery pump. This will allow for draw down before the pump has to cycle on. The draw down is determined by the size of the tank and the amount of air pressure in the bladder. Tank size should not be less than 20 gallons. This will allow for approximately 7 to 12 gallons of draw down and will give you approximately 40 to 60 pounds of pressure during that time. When the pump turns on, to compensate for the draw down, the mainline pressure will decrease. The larger the tank, the longer you can maintain greater pressure.

3. The delivery pump (optional) will pressurize the purified water from the equipment to the faucet. This pump also has a high low censor switch and is used when there is considerable distance from the equipment to the faucet and the flow rate is unacceptable.

4. The chemical feeder is required to introduce chlorine into the main storage tank. The amount of infusion is determined by the size of the tank. The level of chlorine presence should be maintained at 1 percent after the water has been stabilized.

5. The submersible pump, in the main tank, is needed to circulate the chlorine. The pump will need to be sequenced with the chemical feeder infusion.

6. The carbon media will be required to remove the chlorine, chemicals, taste and odors prior to the water entering the house. The recommended size is 1.5 cubic feet. Retention time should be approximately 20 seconds for adequate removal. The carbon will need to be replaced every 24 to 36 months. The frequency of the change will be determined by the application used.

7. The ultra violet light is recommended to insure complete bacteria elimination. If the chlorine concentration drops, bacteria could develop. There needs to be a pre-sediment filter to remove dirt.

8.
The Reverse osmosis (optional) drinking water system will provide additional protection from sediment, chemical and chlorine, heavy metals, salts, viruses and bacteria.

9. The Dual filter with ultra violet add on (optional) will provide excellent filtered water. This equipment will remove dirt, chemicals, chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, bacteria and viruses. It will not remove heavy metals or salts.
Catchment System Photo This photo is of equipment for a client on Maui. It illustrates the 2 delivery pumps and 88 gallon storage tank, chemical feeder and brine tank, timer for the submersible pump, the Hawaiian Anti Taste and Chemical to remove the chlorine and organic matter, sediment filters and ultra violet lamp. The equipment is housed in a dedicated shed to protect it from the weather.

Big Blue UV Big Blue

The Big Blue ultra violet unit is designed for larger commercial water systems or residential mainline treatment. This unit will provide a 99.9 % bacteria kill ratio. It works well for catchment water supplies or problem water.

Big Blue Ultra Violet comes with an LED lamp monitor that verifies that the lamp is operating properly. Flow rates from 15 to 60 GPM at 65 PSI. The equipment comes with 120 volt 60 Hz but has an option of 12 volt for marine and solar applications. The unit also comes with a 1 1/2" inlet/outlet.. All delivery systems are made of Teflon.

Depth Filter Depth Filter:
This unit is designed to remove dirt and suspended debris. The automatic head control (valve) will automatically backwash itself. (Manual valves are also available). This equipment will prevent drip irrigation lines, high pressure sprayers and household plumbing from becoming clogged with dirt.
What our customers say:

"When the time comes to select a company to purify your drinking water' there is no one better to do it than Ian Walker and Mountain Slope Water Co. I live on three acres in the Rainforest on Oahu, and we catch rainwater to drink and bathe in. Our water is susceptible to any form of bacteria you might think of. It runs through rain gutters filled with bird and rat droppings, then sits in 10,000 gallon cisterns waiting for us to use it.

Ian has made it crystal clear and totally safe to drink. The only thing better than the water is the service. We had a plumbing problem late one evening, I called Ian's cell phone, and he answered from a ski slope somewhere in North America, and had someone at my house almost within minutes. He called me throughout the procedure to make sure that all was going well. It Did! That's Service! I teach quality customer service, and know it when I see it."
